Background
Spelled is an ancient cereal already used by the peoples of Mesopotamia. It was of the greatest nutritional importance in Roman times, when, according to the testimony of Pliny the Elder, for about three centuries it remained the only cereal used by the ancient Romans. It was in fact a precious food for the Legions at war (each soldier was entitled to 865 grams of spelled per day), had propitiatory values in weddings and was even used as a currency. It is no coincidence that the word flour derives from far - farris that is spelled.
